From custom app icons to improved multitasking, Android phones can do a lot that iPhones simply can’t think, so it is taught to fight between Android vs iPhone.
Right now, I want to highlight some of the features of Android that iOS does not yet have, being able to set your default apps and use more than one app to completely change the look of your phone Can customize.
Here are my favorite things that Android users can do that person with iPhones can only dream off that makes a fight between Android vs iPhone.
iPhone: The option to set Gmail as the default email app on the iPhone has been asking some iOS users to add Apple for years. Even though Apple has added the option to remove its own apps from iOS, you cannot set a default app. This is really sad. Android: On the other hand, Android lets you set Firefox or Opera as your default browser instead of Google Chrome, or Google’s messaging app as the text messaging app of your choice to take advantage of RCS, Google Apple’s iMessage which is very much liked by the recently released chat feature. It’s not hard to see which apps on your Android device are labeled as default: Open the Settings app and go to Apps and Notifications> Default App. To change the defaults, select an app category, such as the phone app or browser app, and choose from the options.
Google Assistant to win
Users of iPhones have Siri, but you get Google Assistant with Android. Google Assistant is for many reasons a more sophisticated tool than Apple’s Siri, but most importantly it uses the impressive Google database. It also provides high-quality responses, drawing from Google Search, a tool that Siri does not have.
Google Assistant also tightly integrates with other functions of the phone, letting you know when it’s time to leave for your next meeting and warning you that traffic will be heavy on the way home. If you have a Google Home or Nest Home smart speaker or other compatible devices, you can also use an assistant on your phone from a nearby smart device such as a light, outlet, or thermostat – remotely.
And it is built right into your Android device. “OK, Google” and “Hey, Google” are two wake phrases. If you need help knowing what to ask, you can ask Google Assistant for a list of orders: “Okay, Google, what can you do?”
Customize your home screen how you like it
Apple’s approach to the home screen is to put multiple installed apps in a rigid grid across multiple pages. Most Android devices adopt a two-pronged approach, giving you the home screen and app drawer.
Homescreen does not follow a grid layout, allowing you to place apps of your choice anywhere. Both platforms make you a folder with a bunch of applications.But there is an advantage to Android’s style is that by grouping app icons in any design of your choosing you can configure the home screen and Android allows widgets in varying sizes. Today’s perception of Apple is the only position you’ll see a button right now.
Use two apps at once via split-screen mode
Even though iPadOS 13 supports using multiple apps at the same time, iOS 13 and iPhone do not. However, Android users have had split-screen apps since 2016 with the release of Android 7.0 Nougat.
If you are trying to look up a contact’s phone number to send it to someone on Facebook Messenger, or if you need information in a document while writing an email, then using two apps is helpful. It’s unclear why Apple hasn’t added this feature to the iPhone yet, but it probably has something to do with the size of Windows on the iPhone’s display compared to the larger iPad. To expand or decrease how much space each app gets, you can adjust the size of each app by dragging a small handle between the two apps.
You can use the launcher to fully customize your phone
Launcher embodies Android customization. These apps allow you to completely change how you interact with the home screen, app drawer, and even the app icon on your phone.
Launchers like Nova Launcher, Microsoft’s Launcher, Apex Launcher, and Action Launcher add their twists and features to your Android phone. For example, AV, another popular Android launcher, insists on using a search bar to quickly find and open apps on your Android phone, for that matter. It is minimalism at its peak. I recommend taking some time to research various launchers, trying out some of them and really optimizing the look and appearance of your phone. Just be careful: the deeper you dive into the world of the launcher, the more time and energy you spend enhancing your setup. It is hard to imagine a world where Apple could ever do this for the iPhone.
Don’t ever get bored thanks to automatically change wallpapers
If it takes time to find and customize a launcher, it seems like a lot of work, another way to keep your Android phone feeling constantly fresh, and that’s yet another thing your iPhone friends can’t do Can – use Google’s wallpaper app.
The wallpaper app refreshes the wallpaper on your home screen and lock screen daily, without which you have to do one thing. There are many different categories of wallpaper styles to choose from. Pick your favorites, and the app takes care of the rest. Personally, I like to use the geometric shape range. The wallpapers are unique and colorful.
Watch a video and do other things at the same time
If you’ve recently started navigating in Google Maps, leaving the app to only respond to text messages, you’ve probably noticed a small Google Maps window that appears in one corner of the screen. With the release of Android Oreo in 2017, Android gained a systemwide picture-in-picture mode for more than just video apps. Apart from Google Maps and video apps, you can also use picture-in-picture for video calls with supported apps. My favorite use of picture-in-picture is to start streaming YouTube videos and then leave the app to browse Reddit or reply to a text message or email while a YouTube video plays in one corner of the screen. When I want to go back to watching the video full-screen, I tap on the thumbnail to maximize it. iPhones do not have any kind of picture-in-picture mode. You get what you see on the screen.
